Check out this year’s Christmas Card as drawn by the marvelous Mike Holmes of Mikenesses fame.

I haven’t had much time to work on this project but I figured I would share this wonderful addition to the collection. The misses had a baby on the 21st so next year we will have a new member on the card.

Rather than take a ridiculous family photo and send it out to family, friends and the random stranger we have decided to have a different artist draw our family. Back in October I send Mr. Louie Chin a request to do the illustration for my family’s Christmas card. After knocking a few ideas around we decided to move forward on a Family Four inspired card and a big ‘ol group shot with its inspiration coming from the cover of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. They were both so damn awesome that we had them both printed up and sent them out.

When I receive an envelope back for my Celebridoodle project I never know exactly what to expect.

Jackie Chan sent over a nice 3x5 photo signed by him. Due to the size and nature of the photo I like to think he pulled it out of his photo album at home. The caption may have read, “Jackie visiting California Wine Country”

Bill Amend’s wonderful Foxtrot is one of my favorites and the includes of a personal drawing is fabulous…but a simple beard added to this doodle of Jason and I would have been just a bit happier.

I recently received a strange response from the infamous Roman Polanski. There is no denying his talent but I have a hard time respecting a beard hater and he has finally come out of the cloest as such! Please look at the note he drew on my photograph. It reads, “Shave for Christ Sake”.

Stumbled on a fun site called Fiverr. I have spent hours, if not days perusing what people are willing to do for $5. There is a fellow that will beatbox a song for you. There is a gal that will write whatever you want on her forehead and then send you the picture. And don’t get me started on the guy who will teach you how to breath fire.

While perusing the Graphics section I found a couple folks that had pretty cool styles. This one is by a fellow named James Kim who is a storyboard artist over at Fox. Check him out. Throw half a sawbuck his way.

Geo Brawn IV (@Geo_Brawn) shot me with a silver bullet…but first he did this drawing of Wolfman Jon!

Wandering through Artist Alley at San Diego Comic Con can be a bit of a slog at times. Don’t get me wrong, it is my absolute favorite part of the con but when you are looking for an artist to sketch something other than Captain America or Batman it can get a little awkward. I hear a lot of “No”s when I ask artists if they would be willing to do a portrait of me. I also get a lot of strange looks. It makes it that much easier when an artist posts a sign saying that they will not only do a portrait…but one of you AS something. I saw such a sign on Geo Brawn IV’s table stating that he would make me into a monster or zombie. I am a huge fan of the Invisible Man but I came to my senses and figured my beard would be a great start on being a wolfman. So here I am! My daughter does not like this one. Not one bit.

I was not admitted to Hogwarts. I am pretty certain it was an oversight but even though I continued to petition for enrollment throughout high school I never heard back. My bloodline leads back to Salazar Slytherin so I know that when push came to shove and they put that sorting hat on my head I would have been placed in Slytherin. This lovely interpretation of that fateful day was done by the lovely Jenyffer Maria and if you are lucky enough to get into her exclusive commissions, you can enjoy a similar victory. Now to tend to my mug of butter beer.

Kevin Woody (@letunaman) is a wonderfully funny and talented artist. And he did this amazing painting of me! I met him at a convention and bought his great comic, Between Mars. I walked away from that convention thinking of nothing else but needing to add him to my collection. He has a style all his own and his sense of humour is bar-none. I have never met a man that loves sandwiches quite as much as him. I offered him a plate full of sandwiches in exchange for a sketch but he requested money instead….and now I am the proud owner of this wonderful painting. I can tell looking at his interpretation of me that he thinks I have a screw loose. Maybe more than one. This is probably the best interpreation of me as a serial killer that I have ever seen.

Another family drawing to celebrate the day of my birth. This one was done by my sister, Ashly. It celebrates my shortlived (one day) mutton-chop period this past June. She definitely put me in some kind of girdle or corset. Maybe a pair of each. But hot damn if she didn’t nail my bellbottoms!

Today’s my birthday and what better way to celebrate than to post a couple recent drawings by the family? This whole project started with wanting to watch the development of my sister’s drawing so its always great to get a couple new ones. These ones were drawn while taking a break at San Diego Comic Con. The top pictures were drawn by my sister, 8, and features me as a robot and me as an orange. The other by my son, 9, features me trying to recover from all the craziness of SDCC.

I love seeing the inspiration in the kids after a convention. There is so much amazing art and talent flying around that it is impossible not to get jazzed about it. Thanks for following this feed and spread it around. Hopefully we can get some amazing new Celebs in my 29th year.

Creator of ZombieBomb (@terminalpress), Adam Miller, answered the question: What would I look like as a Zombie? Answer, just as dang sexy as I do as a normie. (<—- I just coined that phrase for non-zombie). Imagine all the undead gals that would be clawing at clothes trying to get a peek at what was in my head. Instead of getting always getting asked “What are you thinking” they might be able to just look and say, “I see what you’re thinking”. A man can dream, can’t he?

Scott C. (@scottlava) did this awesome portrait of me at Comic-Con and even wrote that I was pleasant. He was quite pleasant, too. The “<3 Scott C.” concerns me a bit. I was definitely making sexy eyes at him but that is what I always do when people draw my portrait. I want these portraits to capture my inner-sex machine and by george, I think he nailed it.

The amazingly talented Katie Cook ( @katiecandraw ) did this ridiculously small and totally awesome picture of Jon! I’ve been waiting since last year’s SDCC to ask her to do a portrait of me and, I’ll be honest, it was well worth the wait. In under 60 seconds she knocked this wee-watercolor out and it ended up in my grubby little hands. It is hard to tell from the scan but the painting itself is at most 2 inches in height and it is just plain marvelous. The little heart most certainly represents my love for my wife who bought this for me. Or maybe my love of burritos.

I just returned from a fabulous trip to San Diego Comic Con and Tr!ckster. Wandered the streets, saw giant smurfs and got a whole bunch of amazing art. On top of the amazing prints I found I also got five new interpretations of me and will post them shortly.

I recently made a purchase at the newly opened West-Ate Store. Having followed the work of Mr. Louie Chin for quite a while I was completely stoked to see that he had books available. And with each book he includes these snazzy homemade stickers (the one that looks like a strawberry is definitely my favorite) and a sketch. I requested a sketch of me and lo and behold look at the fabulousness that came to my door! To be fair, I am not as muscular as he made me out to be in the “AAAARGH” drawing but what I lack in muscle I make up for in bodyhair. So I guess it all evens out. THANKS Mr. Chin!

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of my old Elementary School they have asked students (both old and current) to paint 6”x6” tiles that will then become part of the school walls during a planned renovation. As much as drawing in public frightens the hell out of me I knew that I had to take part in a giant, multi-generational art piece.

Since I was a kid they have taken the mascot of a sleek, running cheetah and neutered it to become the cutsie, wide eyed, baby cheetah that now covers the school grounds. I wondered what the school mascot would be in 50 years and it quickly became obvious that after the oncoming human genocide by robots it would require the change from cheetah to Robo-Cheetah. Here is the official (as appointed by me) mascot of Cerritos Elementary for 2161, The Robo-Cheetah!
